Practitioner Academics Group with Guest Speaker Abigail Moriarty 24th Feb 2026 1pm (online)

This is an invitation to attend or join the school practitioner academics group (pracademics). For our first meeting in a while we are incredibly lucky to welcome Abigail Moriarty as our guest speaker. Abigail is the Pro Vice Chancellor for Education and Students and has kindly agreed to talk to us about her journey as a practitioner academic from her background in nursing. We are sending advance notice to save the date.

The group provides a reflective space for academics who came to academia from, or practice in, a professional field related to their subject. However, if you feel your professional identity or experience aligns with this in some way but does not exactly fit this definition you are welcome to join us. The group also includes some academics who have returned to practice and join us externally. Our focus has been reflecting on our professional identity, navigating a practitioner academic career, and collaboration on publication in this area. We are looking at a new structure for the group where we invite internal and external speakers in addition to reflection, discussion and collaboration. If you would like to come along, please contact Jenny: jhamilton@lincoln.ac.uk
